Historical context
The 1930s in Quebec began with an economic slump. Society was hit hard by the Great Depression, and many turned to field hockey and the Montreal Canadiens to take their minds off the situation.
The 1933-1934 season promises to be a difficult one. Léo Dandurand remained co-owner and former star player Newsy Lalonde returned as coach, but both were suspended for fighting with players during a game against the Maroons. The team slips...
