Drainer

The drip tray is complete; the top has lost some of its glaze and breaks have been repaired with glue. It is circular in shape. The wall is flared towards the rim, which is straight and has a corrugated top. The wall curves towards the bottom, which is slightly concave. It rests on three small feet arranged in a triangle; they are oval in cross-section and tapered towards the sock. The lower part of the wall and the bottom are pierced with circular holes, the inside of which is covered with enamel. On the wall, the holes form two aligned rings; on the bottom, the holes form unequal concentric rings from the center, which has a single hole. Their fulcrum is uneven and unglazed. There is a blue-painted mark underneath the background: interlocking TBs topped by a dot; the decoration is molded and hand-painted in blue and very dark blue underglaze. The molded decoration can be seen at the top of the rim, which is wavy, and on the feet, whose contour is slightly wavy. The painted decoration is of the Dutch rural type. The decoration is painted on the inner and outer walls, on the base and on the feet. The inner wall is adorned with a blue braid featuring two different paintings, repeated in alternation. One depicts a village with houses, a central church and a windmill, set on an undulating, grassy terrace. The other, in a larger format, shows a woman in profile to the left; kneeling, wearing European-style clothing and a headdress, she picks fruit from a shrub and places it in a basket. The scene features two other identical shrubs, as well as trees, and is bordered at each end by a fence; on the one on the left stands a small, windowed secondary building, possibly a latrine hut. The background is decorated with four flowers arranged in a triangle, with a central flower. The outer wall is adorned with a blue tracery trimmed with fine stems and tendrils, leaves and bunches of grapes. The outside of the feet is decorated with a trifoliate motif.
