Deep dish

The dish is incomplete; a small portion of the rim is missing and some breaks have been repaired with iron studs. It is circular in shape, with the rim folded outwards. Its top is domed, while its sock-like wall is curved towards the bottom, which is flat and wide. On the reverse, it rests on a ring-shaped foot, the base of which is flat and free of glaze. The center is recessed and flat. The foot is pierced by two aligned circular mounting holes, the inside of which is covered with glaze. The reverse side of the dish is pierced by nine pairs of aligned circular holes, three of which extend through the wall to the face; seven of these pairs of holes hold a clamp made of two parallel iron rods, while two other pairs show only the trace of one. The reverse side of the rim features two similar holes, on either side of the missing fragment. The body is a pinkish-beige color, and the object is covered with a bluish-white glaze. There are three traces of a pernette in a triangular pattern on the reverse; the decoration is hand-painted in blue. The painted decoration covers the inner rim and base, as well as the outer wall. It features a scenic motif. On the top and under the inner rim are four concentric rings in blue, one in very pale blue. The background is decorated with a scene featuring characters and a village. It is divided into four levels. The lower level is decorated with leafy stems and flowers. The main decoration is spread over three terraces. Two terraces feature European-style figures, two of whom are seen in profile and seated on rocks, while the central figure stands and is seen from the front. The upper terrace supports buildings, a fence and trees. The outer wall is decorated with four stylized plant motifs arranged in a cross.
