Cut

The cut is complete; there are some breaks on the rim which have been repaired with glue. It is circular in shape, with a flared rim and corrugated edge. The wall is flared towards the rim and curves towards the bottom, which is flat. On the reverse, it rests on a ring-shaped foot, whose partly flat, beveled base is wide and free of glaze. The center is recessed and flat. The foot is imprinted with fine gravel. The rim has lost much of its glaze ; The decoration is molded and hand-painted in blue on the front and reverse. The molded decoration appears as a small vertical bulge at the junction of the wall and the base. The painted decoration is vegetal, in the Kraak style from China. The inner surface of the object is entirely decorated. There is a wavy line near the edge. The wall is decorated with a row of oval medallions with pointed tops; their outer perimeter is made of a double fillet, the center of which is painted blue. Each one houses an object or a flower, in alternation; each object is different and ribboned, and approaches the emblems of the Eight Immortals if not the Eight Precious Objects, while the leafy and flowery stems are identical. Between these medallions are scrolls. The central decoration is surrounded by concentric decagons with wavy sides and pointed corners, one solid and two in reserve. The main decoration consists of a pot with a globular wall and a flared neck with a flat top, probably fitted with four feet, three of which are visible, and from which leafy, flowering stems emerge. The pot rests on what appears to be a four-legged square support. In the background is a fence with vertical beams. On the reverse, the bowl is lined with compartments; they are delimited by a net and closed at the ends by a line, the one near the rim being wavy and the other at the junction of the wall with the foot. The compartments are trimmed with five cross-shaped pearls.
