Cup with handle

The cup is complete; there is a break repaired with glue. It is cylindrical in shape. The wall is very slightly domed, with a straight rim and a plain top. The wall curves at the base towards the sock, which is flat. The cup rests on a ring-shaped foot, with a beveled outer rim. The base is wide. The recessed, flat bottom features a wide ring with a central nipple interlocked with a small incised ring. The cup has a vertical, ear-shaped handle; its upper end is folded down and rests on the sock, while the other rests on the wall. The cross-section is oval. There is a groove at the junction of the wall and the foot. There are defects on the inner base. The glaze is cracked and the body is pale brown; the decoration is hand-painted in cobalt blue, underglaze. It is of the Chinese house type. The decoration under the inner rim is a ribbon trimmed with a beaded lattice. It is underlined by a fillet. The decoration has run off in places. The main decoration on the outer wall consists of a terrace featuring an Oriental-style house. It is seen from three-quarters up, with its gable wall and side wall, each featuring a door. The roof is double-sloped, with a pillar at each end, and is topped by a double-sloped tower and mast. The house is adjoined by a fence made of lattice panels supported by a post at each end. Various grasses and trees grow beyond the fence sections, including a willow tree on the right. Birds flutter in the sky. The terrace is underlined by a row of four triangles made of superimposed lines pointing downwards. The handle is decorated with superimposed lines.
