Cup
The goblet is complete; there are small chips on the rim, and a crack. It is circular in shape. In profile, the beaker has a slightly flared wall topped by a straight rim. The lower part of the wall is curved towards the bottom, which is flat. It rests on a ring-shaped foot. The outer edge of the foot is beveled and free of glaze. The bottom is flat and recessed; the decoration covers the outside of the cup, as well as the inside rim and bottom. The decoration is of the vegetable type, treated in Imari. It is hand-painted in two-tone blue underglaze, then traced and painted in iron red, with gold highlights, over glaze. A fillet is traced under the inner rim in blue. The center of the background features a flower with radiating petals trimmed with blue lines; it is traced in blue and painted in blue and red, faded and unfaded. The decoration on the outer wall consists of two sets repeated in alternation; it is bordered by a blue-painted fillet at the top and base. It consists of sinuous leafy branches, traced and painted in blue, which support and surround the same large flower on oval petals, probably lotus, which are traced in blue and painted in blue and faded red. The branches are adorned with red-painted leaves, some with veins, and various flowers painted in succession. The top of the cup is covered in gilding.
