Historical context

This is a commemorative medal from the 1914 Quebec Provincial Exhibition. This essentially agricultural exhibition dates back to the 19th century. Financial constraints made it impossible to hold the event every year. In December 1911, Quebec City mayor Napoléon Drouin decided to acquire the Exhibition Company and make it an annual event.
