Coffee maker

The coffee pot is complete; it has a long crack. It is circular in shape. In cross-section, it is pear-shaped. The neck is high and tapered at the top, topped by a rim with a flared ring and a flat, thin top. The shoulder is rounded, and the wall is curved and narrowed towards the base. It rests on a pedestal with a beveled rim. The bottom is recessed and flat. The handle is vertical and oval in cross-section; its upper end is folded down over the neck, while the other rests on the wall. The neck is curved like a swan’s neck; it is flared at its junction with the wall, halfway up the latter, and its opening is flat; the decoration is probably lathe-moulded. The lathe decoration is visible on the outer wall, while the molded decoration is visible on the handle and spout. On the neck and lower half of the wall, the decoration consists of small vertical ribs, separated into three parts by groups of three small horizontal bulges. The back of the neck is molded in acanthus leaves, with a textured background. The main decoration consists of three groups of figures dressed in antique style and reproduced identically on the opposite walls, with the exception of the central figure: a group of putti and a seated, weeping woman with a dog, flanking a weeping woman standing near a funerary monument. These relief motifs were molded separately and applied to the wall. The pedestal is slightly stepped. The handle features a plant motif molded in relief on its top, while its outer face is also adorned with vertical grooves.
