Clam
The stoup is complete; there is a small break around the foot of the vessel. It is composed of a separate molded plate and a turned vessel. The plate is oval with a wavy outline; its upper part features an asymmetrical shoulder topped by a domed head. The lower part is tapered like a fleur-de-lys with a concave contour. The head is pierced by two aligned horizontal circular holes, the inside walls of which are covered with enamel. The face is covered with white enamel, while the back is unglazed. The container adheres to the face of the lower part of the plate. It is circular in shape, with a globular wall, rounded shoulder, constricted neck and outwardly folded rim; it rests on a small, circular foot, connected to the base of the vessel by a short, constricted stem. The underside of the foot has a wide, flat, unglazed base, while the center is sunken into a dome; the decoration is molded and hand-painted in blue underglaze and yellow overglaze or underglaze. It is religious and geometric. The molded decoration is visible on the face and around the rim of the plate. The rim of the plate is wavy, and the rim of the plate face is decorated with rounded radiating ribs. The center of the plaque face is roughly molded as a crucified Christ. The painted decoration is visible on both the plate and the vessel. The plate is decorated with a Christ on the cross, the cross and Christ drawn in very dark blue; shadowy areas on the arms of the cross are painted in blue, as is Christ’s body. He is dressed in a knotted perizonium traced in yellow; blood traced in yellow flows from the wounds on his hands and feet. The base of the cross is bordered by a pair of long, vertical leafy stems, the pointed tops of which are turned down. The outer wall of the container is adorned with a horizontal vegetal element made up of long stems with pointed tops, mirrored on either side of a central core outlined in yellow.
