Chocolatière

The chocolatière is complete. It is circular in shape. In cross-section, it is pyriform. The neck is high and slightly flared at the top, topped by a straight rim with a flat, thin top, which is fitted with an elongated, triangular spout with a rounded tip; a flat bridge crosses the spout near the rim of the container. The shoulder is rounded, and the wall is domed and constricted towards the base. It rests on a pedestal with a beveled rim. The bottom is recessed and flat. The handle is vertical and oval in cross-section; its upper end is folded down and rests on the neck, while the other rests on the wall. The lower part of the handle is turned inwards. The inner neck is pierced by a small circular hole that communicates with the upper branch of the handle; the decoration is probably lathe-worked and molded. The lathe decoration is visible on the outer wall, while the molded decoration is visible on the handle. On the lower half of the wall, the decoration consists of small vertical ribs, separated over their lower third by a narrow band with no decoration. The pedestal is slightly stepped. The handle features a plant motif molded in relief at the top, while its outer surface is also decorated with vertical grooves.
