Chocolate cup

The cup is complete; it has a break that has been repaired with glue. It is circular in shape. The wall is flared at the top, with a slight constriction at mid-height, and is topped by a rim with an undulating top. The wall curves at the base towards the sock, which is flat. It rests on an annular foot, with a bevelled outer rim; its support point is free of glaze. It features an ear-shaped vertical handle, the lower part of which ends in an elongated knob. The glaze on the bottom, near its junction with the foot, has been wiped off. There are a few small grains of sand mixed with the glaze on the inner base. There is a mark printed in blue under the base: C, a cross-hatched crescent. There are numerous small circular marks on the inner base ; The decoration is molded and applied by transfer printed; it is blue in color with the Fence motif. The molded decoration is visible on the wall and handle. The upper half of the wall features vertical undulations. The handle, which was molded separately, is undulating with a poucier at the top: it follows the shape of a snake with its head at the lower end. The printed decoration is visible on the outer wall, as well as under the rim and on the inner base. On the outer wall, it is distributed over three aligned zones. The main decoration consists of a fence made up of a few sections: some are straight, while others are arranged in a zig-zag pattern. The fence sections are cross-hatched, with a small, three-lobed opening in the center. A rock borders the fence to the right. Leafy and flowering plant stems of varying scales adjoin the fence, including a long stem extending to the left; they are cross-hatched. To the left of the fence is a small terrace made of a wavy line and covered with grass. It joins a long rock with two heads, one of which is topped by three trees, while the other portion is topped by two curved plant stems of reed or bamboo. The other area consists of an elongated, cross-hatched island. It is surmounted by a hut with a domed straw roof, and flanked by three trees, of which only the central one has foliage or thorns; a lobed rock borders the island at water level. Waves made of horizontal lines strike the island and the rock. At the foot of the island, a stylized plant element and three small emerging rocks stand out. At the top of the island fly two birds, seen in profile to the right. Their bodies are elongated and their wings point down and back, although the wing of one appears to be folded. The decoration below the inner rim is a horizontal ribbon of staggered cells and half-cells, with radiating dashes and a reserved center. The decoration on the inner base consists of a flower flanked by three leaves.
