Historical context
Dupuis Frères is Canada’s largest French-language department store. Established on Sainte-Catherine Street in Montreal in the 1860s, it began publishing and distributing a catalog throughout French-speaking Canada in 1921. The catalogs were a real commercial asset for the company, and a great success. They enabled Dupuis Frères to extend its influence in Quebec, and even outside the province.
