Historical context
On December 8, 1975, two air traffic controllers were suspended for five days without pay for exchanging two sentences in French. A few months earlier, in September 1975, the Association des gens de l’air was founded in Sainte-Foy, to fight for the rights of French speakers in aviation. The association protested against the suspension, setting off a national debate that transformed Canadian aviation.
