Butter dish cover
The butter dish lid is complete. It is circular in shape. It has a domed top. It has a central gripping knob. It has a circular wing with an outwardly sloping top and a flat underside, with two opposing rectangular indentations on the wing. It has an annular collar that tapers slightly towards the sock. The underside of the wing and the outer wall of the collar are free of glaze; the decoration is molded and applied by transfer printed; it is blue in color and features the Fence motif. The molded decoration is visible on the knob. The knob has been applied to the lid; it’s a stem with two leaves, applied directly in sock relief to the lid; from the stem emerges a circular flower bud with a domed top, which is inclined. The printed decoration is visible on the top of the lid, and encloses the molded stem of the bud. The main decoration is surrounded by a horizontal ribbon below the rim, and consists of a row of rectangles with radiating dashes and a central pearl. The main decorative element is a fence made of four non-aligned, cross-hatched sections. A rock borders the fence to the right. On either side of the fence, leafy and flowering plant stems of varying scales are cross-hatched. Finally, two birds flutter above the scene.
