Cette carte de visite, une photographie montée sur un carton, réalisée par Livernois vers 1860, montre un portrait de Louis-Joseph Papineau (1786-1871) alors qu’il était président de la Chambre du Bas-Canada, rôle qu’il occupe entre 1815 et 1823 puis à nouveau entre 1825 et 1837.
