Bottle
The bottle is complete. It is circular in shape. The shoulder is rounded, the neck short and straight, topped by a swollen lip with a domed top. The side of the bottle is rounded, with a narrow base. The base is swollen and rests on a flat bottom free of coating and glaze. The handle is vertical. Oval in shape and flattened oval in cross-section, its upper end is tied to the neck below the neck, while the other is folded down and rests on the shoulder; its end has been flattened. There is a hand-engraved mark below the bottom, in two registers: S J Pottery ; The decoration is applied, incised and molded. It is of the anthropomorphic type. A brown iron coating has been applied to the outer wall and handle. A salt glaze appears to cover the exterior of the object, giving it a shiny appearance. The incised decoration is visible on the neck, and consists of three superimposed grooves. The molded decoration consists of a medallion in relief applied to the wall opposite the handle, surrounded by three plant motifs; a mask of a bearded man is applied to the neck and shoulder.
