Blackening bottle

The bottle is complete, with the exception of a shard missing from the bottom. It is cylindrical in shape, with an angular, conical shoulder; the neck is cylindrical and flares out at the top, with a slightly domed top. The base is slightly beveled. The base is slightly domed. The body is pale gray in color, covered with a very pale brown ferrous coating and a salt glaze, giving it a shiny appearance in places. The wall and bottom are flawed in various places. There is an intaglio mark on the lower part of the wall, which is incomplete and unevenly applied on a register: (BL)ACKING BOTTLE ; None, except for the very pale brown coating that covers the entire surface of the container, as well as the underside of the bottom; the salt glaze gives a shiny appearance to a small portion of the surface. There is also a groove at the base of the neck, where it meets the shoulder.
