Arrow belt
Arrow belt with flame pattern. The belt is made of red, white, yellow, black and brown wool. The colors come from natural dyes. The braiding features a lynx eye. The bangs are braided, but have been cut.

Historical context
Arrow belts, created by French Canadians in the 2nd half of the 18th century, became a cultural symbol in Quebec. Between 1830 and 1880, fur-trading companies commissioned Quebec craftswomen to produce them, so that they could be traded with certain aboriginal nations.
