Historical context
This arrow belt was made by Marie-Berthe Guibault Lanoix, one of Quebec’s most renowned arrow makers. Discovering arrowwork in 1976, she learned the technique from traditional craftsmen, then passed on her knowledge to a handful of people. Here, the multicultural dimension of arrow belts is revealed by the beads, objects present in aboriginal, Métis and French-Canadian cultures.
