Arrow belt

Arrow belt with flame pattern. The belt is made of brown, white, red, yellow and green wool, dyed with natural dyes. It is coated with beeswax.

Historical context

This arrowed belt was made by Marie-Berthe Guibault Lanoix, one of Quebec’s most renowned flecheuses. Her expertise is rooted in tradition: among other things, she uses vegetable dyes to color her wool and applies beeswax to reinforce the strength and resistance of her creations, like the one shown here.
