Arrow belt

L’Assomption” style arrow belt, with lightning bolt motif, made of 13 corridors. The belt is made of red, yellow, green, black and white wool. The yellow color seems to be obtained from a synthetic dye, while the other colors come from natural dyes.

Historical context

Sur cette ceinture fléchée, la couleur jaune a la particularité d’être orangée, ce qui correspondrait à une teinture synthétique. En revanche, les autres couleurs semblent être d’origine naturelle. Ainsi, cette pièce date probablement de la fin du 19e siècle, une période de transition des teintures naturelles vers les teintures synthétiques.
