Alcoholic beverage bottle

The object is complete; broken, it has been reassembled with glue and repainted plaster. It is cylindrical in shape. In cross-section, it has a very bulging wall, topped by a rounded shoulder, and a cylindrical neck tapering towards the top. The neck features a ring of two horizontal bulges separated by a wide groove, and a domed lip with a flat top. The wall curves towards the base, which is high and narrow; the bottom is slightly concave and has an uneven surface; the rim is circular but uneven. The object has a vertical handle with a rectangular cross-section and a flat outer surface. Its upper end is linked to the neck, where it flares out, while its lower portion rests on the shoulder, before extending onto the latter in a pointed, off-axis triangle. The outer surface is a tavelled brown; the decoration is molded and applied. Molded decoration is visible on the neck and on the wall opposite the handle. Applied decoration is visible on the entire outer surface of the object. The molded decoration has been molded separately and then applied to the object. The decoration on the neck consists of a bearded, moustachioed man’s face, with pronounced eyebrows; its outline is poorly defined. The decoration on the wall is an oval decorated with a shield featuring three superimposed vertical X’s, surmounted by a crown and framed by plant motifs. The applied decoration is a brown iron-based scabbed plaster, which shows some drips in the lower portion of the bottle.
